Treating the Watershed with Traditional Taro Fields Studies by the Palau International Coral Reef Center show that traditional taro patches can trap and retain over 95 percent of sediment and over 90 percent of nutrients that flow into them. Ngarasesb Maas: Traditional Knowledge We worked with the Ngarasesb Maas women’s group to learn their traditional agroforestry methods, and partnered to develop methods to increase environmental security, food security, and community economic security. Chin Farm: Community Involvement On the Chin Farm, students come to participate and learn and sustainable agricultural techniques. These methods reduce impacts and support the health of the watershed. Jane’s Farm: Building a Demonstration of Sustainable Techniques With Jane’s Farm, we implemented sustainable agricultural practices and partnered to create a demonstration farm where other local farmers can have an immersive experience implementing these strategies.
