Underwater Clean-Up Events

Underwater and land clean-ups have been conducted in La Guancha, Ponce and Las Pardas, Guánica. Efforts targeted marine debris which can highly impact the condition of seagrass beds and the aquatic animals that depend on these environments. More clean-up events like these are upcoming. Local engagement for these events is high, and volunteers have included community members, student groups, local businesses, and Boys Scout chapters.

Tow Boarding Seagrass Surveys

Tow boarding and snorkel-based surveys have been conducted to determine the extent of seagrass restoration potential and debris removal at multiple locations. In addition, we are re-evaluating water quality at sites which have been identified by previous studies as potentially impaired by excess nutrients.
